Resetting Internet Explorer 7
To reset all Internet Explorer settings, follow these steps.
- Click Start, and then click Start Search or Run...
- Type Inetcpl.cpl, and then press ENTER. The Internet Options dialog box opens.
- Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.

You might receive the following message instead:
Before you can reset Internet Explorer settings, you must first close all other open windows and programs. If you receive this message, click OK, and then close all Internet Explorer windows except for the window that you are using to view this content. Then, repeat this step. After you click Reset, a Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box appears that asks you to confirm the following:
Are you sure you want to reset all Internet Explorer settings?
- Click Reset to confirm that you want to reset all Internet Explorer settings.
- After Internet Explorer finishes restoring the settings, click Close.
Temporarily Disable All Installed Browser Toolbars & Add-Ons
To temporarily disable all internet explorer toolbars and add-ons, follow these steps.
- Click Start, and then click Start Search or Run ...
- Type iexplore.exe –extoff, and then press ENTER. Note that Internet Explorer 7 opens without add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins, but that you can still surf the Internet in this browser window.
Deleting Temporary Internet Files
To delete all Temporary Internet Files, follow these steps.
- Click Start, and then click Start Search or Run...
- Type Inetcpl.cpl, and then press ENTER. The Internet Options dialog box opens.
- In Internet Options, click the General tab, and then click Delete under Browsing History.
- In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
- Click Yes and then wait for the temporary Internet files to be deleted. This might take only several minutes in some cases. However, in other cases, this might take an hour or more. It all depends on how many temporary Internet files you have on your computer.
